Chernomorets: We hope that the UAF presidential elections will become a real catalyst for changes in the work of referees

The Odessa club provided statistics on referee errors in matches of the current season

Chernomorets made an official statement in which he announced the low level of UPL arbitration.

The Odessa club expects serious changes in the work of the UAF and the referee committee. You can read the full text of the statement Here.

“Ukrainian football is on the threshold of historical processes. For the first time in almost 10 years, the election of the UAF President will become not just a formality, but will lead to personnel changes.”

“Reviews of each round in various publications have long begun not with the best goals, assists or tactical coaching steps, but with a list of refereeing errors. Chernomorets has never been involved in compiling alternative tables. But everything has its limit.”

“After 14 rounds, we have the following picture: 5 out of 6 defeats in the 23/24 season were accompanied, to put it mildly, by ambiguous decisions of the referees. The first round has not yet ended, but Chernomorets has already collected a “bouquet” of:

– no penalties awarded against the opponent’s goal
— fictional red cards (4 out of 5)
– no red cards shown to players of the opposing team.”

“And this is just what caught everyone’s eye and did not require too much expert assessment. FC Chernomorets hopes that the UAF presidential elections will become a real catalyst for effective changes in the work of the huge judicial family. If you constantly play 11 vs 15 or 10 vs 15, you may not be able to stand it for long.”

Regional football associations of Ukraine in October and November officially contacted the UAF with a demand to hold the Executive Committee of the Association, as well as formalize the appointment of an acting general secretary of the UAF.

Let us recall that in May the Pechersky Court of the city of Kiev extended the suspension of the head of the UAF Andrei Pavelko from his post until July 9, 2023, and in early August extended the decision for a new period – two months, until October 2. The court also extended the investigation period in the case of the head of the UAF and the organization’s secretary general, Yuri Zapisotsky, until November 23, 2023.

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lvov recently extended the detention of the President of the Ukrainian Football Association for 48 days. The head of the UAF will remain in pre-trial detention until November 23 inclusive.

In mid-June, the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Lvov imprisoned Pavelko in a pre-trial detention center for a period of 60 days – until August 14 inclusive. The bail of 9.88 million hryvnia, which was previously paid for the head of the UAF, was transferred in favor of the state. On August 9, it became known that the money that was paid as bail for Pavelko by lawyer Svyatoslav Bolinsky had a Russian trace.

The UAF considers the entire process to be custom work from former association leaders. In 2018, the “Schemes” program conducted an investigation, as a result of which journalists suspected the UAF and its president Andrei Pavelko of corruption through a plant for the production of artificial fields.
