The Danucci era at Brindisi may be ending here. The coach of the Apulian club is unable to manage the team, and his players are drowning between Avellino’s goals and a complete lack of ideas. For the Irpinia team it is a success of strength and concreteness in a championship in which the Green Wolves are becoming increasingly protagonists. There is essentially no story in the first half. The difference in technique and experience between the two teams is appalling. Avellino is the home side and doesn’t have to fight too hard to get the double lead that ends the first half. Irpinia’s two goals are achieved through different actions. The first one is on the inactive ball. After a free kick from Varela, Palmiero breaks free with the ball and hits the feet of Mulet, who scores. The duplication was a sensational mistake by the Brindisi defense, which allowed Gori to overcome Sayo on the way out and score into an empty net. Late in the half, the Avellino trio had a double opportunity, first with Marconi and then with Sgarbi, but here it was Sayo who made two excellent interventions to avoid further capitulation. Brindisi was involved and completely unproductive in attack, with the exception of Moretti’s header immediately after Golfo’s free kick. Avellino scored two more goals in the second half. Gori first completed the hat-trick with an unusual left-footed shot under the crossbar, and immediately afterwards Sannipoli sealed the poker with a personal action capped by a left-footed shot that stunned Sayo. A proud moment for Brindisi with Gantz coming close to taking the flag thanks to a pass from the indomitable Albertini. In the final, Avellino controlled the game and came close to scoring the fifth goal, and Patierno, in an excellent position in the penalty area, incredibly shot wide of the goal. It all ends with a loud whistle from Fanuzzi. A very difficult defeat for Brindisi, who now really has to talk about a deep crisis. For Avellino, this is an important success in terms of promotion. Now the peaks and valleys of the game
