Oleg Kuznetsov: Our team has no other goal than to get into the elite round of selection for the European U-19 Championship

The coach of the youth team diplomatically does not consider Ukraine the favorite of the group, which also includes Slovakia, Kosovo and Malta

Head coach Ukrainian youth team Oleg Kuznetsov – about the upcoming matches for his players Euro 2024 qualifying round (U-19).

“If many new players were invited to the recent training camp in South Korea, now the emphasis was on ensuring that the players had match practice.”

“Newbies? We have been following Timur Tuterov for a long time, when he was still playing for Kolos. So far he has been consistently playing for the Sunderland youth team. Good reviews about Alexander Pishchur, a tall forward from the Puskas Academy. Bogdan Manuylov is also performing well in Spain. I hope these guys will help us.”

“We left Kyiv on the morning of the 11th. 12 arrived in Malta in the late afternoon. We will essentially have two full working days.”

“We are collecting more information on the Malta national team because we are meeting with the hosts in the first round. And we’ll see Kosovo and Slovakia at the tournament itself.”

“Is Ukraine the favorite of the group? I wouldn’t be so categorical. The Maltese are bosses, so they will be super motivated. We met and defeated Kosovo, but it was a very difficult fight for Ukraine. And Slovakia has always had promising youth. Therefore, I would not single out any particular team. All competitors have approximately the same chance of success.”

“Our team has no other goal than to get into the elite round of the European Championship selection.”

Let us remind you that the rivals of the Ukrainian youth team in the qualification for Euro 2024 (U-19) will be the teams of Slovakia, Kosovo and Malta. The qualifying tournament will take place from 15 to 21 November 2023 in Malta.
