The German made a comeback after losing the first set in a tiebreaker
German tennis player Alexander Zverev managed to defeat the second racket of the world, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the first round of the group stage Final tournament ATP Finals-2023 – 2:1.
In a fight that lasted more than two and a half hours, Alcaraz managed to win the first set. He missed a set point three times with the score 6:5, but was able to turn the tiebreaker in his favor – 7:3.
However, in the future the representative of Germany was stronger. In each of the subsequent games, he managed to take a game on someone else’s serve once – this was enough for the final triumph. It should be noted that Zverev completed 16 serves – against 11 aces from his opponent.
In Group B (aka Red Group), along with Zverev and Alcaraz, “neutrals” Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev also perform. The two best tennis players from the quartet will advance to the playoffs.
Let us remember that earlier in the Green Group Jannik Sinner was stronger than Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Novak Djokovic beat Holger Rune.
