Former footballer “Spartacus” Dmitry Parfenov believes that it will be difficult for the “red-whites” to fight for the championship in the current season of the Russian First WORLD League (RPL).
On Sunday, Spartak defeated Rostov with a score of 2:1 in the home match of the 15th day of the RPL. The Red and Whites scored 24 points and occupy 6th place in the standings, while Krasnodar, in the lead, has 32 points.
– Of course, the result was not successful for Spartak. The team has to fight for the medals, I would like to win gold. Sixth place probably does not suit the coach and management. We were brought up in such a way that Spartak always had to fight for medals.
— Does Spartak have a chance to become champion this season?
— There is now a big gap from first place and competitors will not lose every match. It will be difficult for the Red and Whites to win the championship, but we have to try. The whole circle is still ahead. You need to get into the top three, and besides there is an opportunity to win the Cup,” Parfenov said, as quoted by RB Sport.
