17-year-old Adelaide United player will join the German giants in the summer
Bavaria announced the signing of a 17-year-old Australian Nestori Irankunda from Adelaide United.
The transition will officially take place on July 1, 2024. The footballer will finish the season with his current club, after which he will join the permanent German champion on a long-term basis. According to unconfirmed reports, the amount of compensation will be 3.4 million euros.
Irankunda, despite his young age (he was born on February 9, 2006), managed to play 33 matches for the Adelaide first team, in which he scored 9 goals and gave two assists. The teenager’s main position is right winger.
Bayern have previously been tempted by attacking talent from the Australian Championship. In 2019, the Munich team signed 20-year-old (at that time) New Zealand winger Sarptit Singh. However, he never played in the first team of the European giants, and since the summer of 2023 he has been playing for Hansa.
Currently, the Munich team are in second place in the German Championship with 29 points after 11 rounds, two points behind Bayer. In the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel’s team won all four matches and qualified early for the playoffs.
