Union of European Football Associations (UEFA ) plans to invite Saudi Arabia “Al-Nasr” participate in the Champions League next season, reports journalist Ali Al-Harbi on social networks.
According to the source, the UEFA leadership is interested in inviting Al-Nasr due to the great popularity of the club where Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo plays.
In August, media reported that the Saudi Football Federation was considering contacting UEFA to request a special invitation to participate in the Champions League in the 2024/25 season.
Last year, UEFA announced a change in the format of the tournament from 2024. The number of teams will increase from 32 to 36 and the group stage will be replaced by a single league. Each club will play at least ten matches against ten different teams, five at home and five at home.
