Athletistic/Football. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is studying the possibility of inviting Saudi club Al-Nasr to participate in the Champions League next season, according to journalist Ali Al-Harbi on social media.
The source reports that the UEFA leadership is interested in inviting Al-Nasr due to the great popularity of the club where Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo plays.
In August, media reported that the Saudi Football Federation was considering contacting UEFA to request a special invitation to participate in the Champions League in the 2024/25 season.
Last year, UEFA announced a change to the tournament format from 2024, increasing the number of participating teams from 32 to 36. The group stage will be replaced by a single league, with each club competing at least ten matches against ten different teams, five of which were at home and five at someone else’s.
