Felipão commanded Athletico-PR in their first classification for the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores in 17 years and was thrilled with the feat.
On Tuesday night, the 5th, the Atletico-PR secured their first qualification for the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores in 17 years after drawing with freed, away from home, by 1 to 1. Having won the first game by 2 to 1, the club from Paraná had the advantage of the tie and managed to advance in the competition.
O Atletico-PR hadn’t made it this far in the competition since 2005, when he went to the final and was defeated by Sao Paulo. Remembering other works and making history in command of the team, Felipe was very happy and proud to have achieved such an important feat for the club.

Athletico was behind on the scoreboard for most of the match and had a goal from Romulus in the final minutes to tie and qualify for the quarterfinals. Commenting on the goal, Felipão highlighted that this was one of the most fantastic moments of his coaching career and revealed a desire to be marked in the club’s history.
“It was one of the most fantastic moments of my career. To score a goal like that, because I don’t even know what minute it was, for us to draw and qualify, it will be marked. I want to be in Athletico history”, commented the coach who already has two Copa Libertadores titles under his belt, one with Grêmio, in 1995, and another with Palmeiras, in 1999.
