Paulo Autuori talks about returning to Cruzeiro: “My challenge is…”

Paulo Autuori, 67-year-old coach, took over Cruzeiro in the final stretch of the Brasileirão, after the dismissal of Zé Ricardo, and has the mission of keeping Cabuloso in Série A

After the dismissal of Zé RicardoO cruise announced the command of Paulo Autuori, who will be leading the team on an interim basis, until the end of the season. Previously serving as technical director since August, the veteran takes over the Minas Gerais club in a complicated situation, with 37 points won and in the relegation zone.

With six rounds to go, two of which are delayed, Cruzeiro, at the moment, depends only on itself to continue in the first division, and Autuori spoke exactly about that. “(Staying in Serie A) is in our hands. Let’s wait for the six games to see if we were competent and effective in achieving this. And there’s nothing satisfying about that, because that’s not where we want to be.”he said.

Paulo Autuori is already with the Cruzeiro squad, which is concentrated in Itu, in the interior of São Paulo, in preparation for the confrontation with Strength, valid for the 30th round of the Brasileirão. The game takes place next Saturday, 18th, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Castellandue to the participation of Leão do Pici in the decision of South American.

At 67 years old, Autuori revealed that he does not intend to continue training in Brazil, but this situation was out of his control and he had to accept it. “I don’t want to be a coach in Brazil anymore, I won’t be. (…) I have always been, and you know very well, a staunch critic of Brazilian football. And there is no time for a Brazilian football coach to train”, he stated.

Reaching the end of his career, the veteran stated that this final stretch for Cruzeiro will be a great challenge. “It’s a period of six games, in less than a month we are finishing it. I started by saying that football is life, and because it is life, my challenge today is about life, not about football. (…) I am grateful to this Cruzeiro institution, which allowed me to participate in successful campaigns. I made my smallest contribution.”he revealed.
