Ukraine U-19 started with a victory in group 7 in qualifying Euro 2024 round (U-19).
The blue-yellows achieved a hard-fought victory over their peers from Malta – 3:1. The fight took place in the Maltese city of Ta-Qali at the Centenary stadium.
The Ukrainians took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to a goal from Bogdan Manuylov. Malta came back after the break – Barbara scored. The victory for the blue-and-yellows was brought by goals from Matvey Ponomarenko and Timur Tuterov.
The mini-qualification will continue for Oleg Kuznetsov’s team with matches against Kosovo (November 18) and Slovakia (November 21). The games will begin at 12:00 Kyiv time.
The teams that take the first two places, as well as the best team from 13 groups that takes third place, will advance to the elite round of qualification. Together with Portugal, which previously received a ticket to this stage, the participants will form seven groups.
The winners of the elite round groups will advance to the finals of the European Championship, along with hosts Northern Ireland. Euro 2024 U-19 will take place from 15 to 28 July 2024.
