Lucescu offered to head Cluj – media

The author of the proposal is the former vice-president of Besiktas, ready to invest in the Romanian club

According to Romanian media, Turkish businessmen who are planning to invest in the club CFR Clujare negotiating with Mircea Lucescu.

In particular, Serhan Cetinsay, a longtime admirer of Mircea, who previously held the position of vice-president of Turkish Besiktas, wants to see an experienced Romanian in the role of head coach. Now he wants to enter Romanian football together with a group of fellow investors, and at the same time bring his idol to Cluj as head coach.

Let us remind you that it was previously reported about negotiations that Dinamo Bucharest conducted with the 78-year-old specialist.

Lucescu resigned after Dynamo’s defeat in the match with Shakhtar (0:1). The Romanian specialist has led the Kyiv team since 2020. In the first season under the leadership of the Romanian, the white-blues became the champion of Ukraine, and also won the Ukrainian Cup and Super Cup.

Lucescu’s coaching career has lasted since 1979. During this time, he worked with various clubs from Romania, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine and Russia, as well as the Turkish national team.

Mircea coached Besiktas from 2022 to 2004, becoming the champion of Turkey with the Black Eagles.

Ukrainian winger Evgeniy Konoplyanka has been playing for Cluj since the summer of 2023 (four appearances on the field, less than an hour of playing time in total). Evgeniy previously played for Shakhtar Donetsk, but not during the Lucescu era.

CFR Cluj is in second place in the Romanian Championship after 16 rounds, losing three points to Steaua.
