Two rounds before the end of the group stage of Euro 2024 qualification, the Ukrainian national team is three points ahead of the Italian national team, having one more match played. Squadra Azzurra will have a match with North Macedonia on Friday, November 17, after which the situation in the fight for the second spot in the group will finally become clearer.

However, one thing is now clear: no matter how the Italy-North Macedonia match ends, Ukraine cannot lose in the match with the Italians, which will be held in Leverkusen on November 20. If Italy wins tomorrow, then the blue-yellows will only be satisfied with a victory in the match at the Bay Arena.

For the Ukrainian national team, there is still an option to qualify through the Nations League playoffs. This is precisely the development of events that analysts from the well-known specialized company Gracenote consider to be the most likely. We tell you what we know.

Italy’s chances are higher, Ukraine’s backup option

According to Gracenote calculations, the probability of Italy’s direct qualification to Euro 2024 is estimated at 53%. The chance that Ukraine will win a direct ticket is 47%.

At the same time, company analysts believe that Ukraine has a 57% probability of qualifying for the playoffs of the tournament through the League of Nations.

Ukraine can get a ticket to the playoffs of Division B today. It depends on the outcome of the match in Group G, in which Montenegro will play at home with Lithuania. If the Balkan team fails to win, then Serbia will receive a direct ticket to the Euro from the group, automatically freeing up a place for the blue-yellows in the qualifying playoffs. If Montenegro wins, you will need to wait for the results of the last round, in which Serbia will play with Bulgaria, and Montenegro will play with Hungary.

But at the same time, it is worth keeping in mind the situation in which Ukraine could end up in the playoffs of Division A of the League of Nations. And there the rivals may be more serious – for example, Croatia, Poland, the already familiar Wales or Switzerland. Against possibly Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Finland. Who has already qualified for Euro 2024

Before the final rounds of the qualifying group stage, nine out of 24 teams had already secured participation in the final part of the European Championship.
