Yastremskaya: When I keep my emotions under control, I show a very good game

The Ukrainian tennis player hopes to collect points to get into the main draw of the Australian Open 2024

Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya shared her impressions of the ending season.

“Really, thank you for what I have. Because last year and the year before, after I was at the top and then fell in the rankings, for two years I constantly depressed myself. Now this year there have been both good and bad things. If I sum it up, I can say that in some aspects I have changed.”

“I’m trying to control my emotions on the court, I’m trying to work on it. I have always been very energetic and quick-tempered. I think the biggest problem that hinders me on the court is my emotions. When I keep them under control, I show a very good level of play.”

“Before, when I was at the top of the rankings, in the top 30, then you could still say that youth seemed to cover that. Now it depends more, of course, on concentration, on discipline and on how you can control yourself.

Of course, I will try to work on it. I don’t really like where I am and the way I’m playing right now. But I really want, I really want to come back and become better.”

“By the end of the year I plan to play in Andorra, but then we’ll see. If there are enough points to qualify for the Australian Open 2024, then I will return to Nice and train there and prepare for Australia. If I don’t perform very well in Andorra, maybe I’ll play another tournament in Angers, because it also counts towards Australia.”

Yastremskaya took part in the Billie Jean King Cup playoff matches against the Netherlands. In her first match, Dayana lost to Arantxa Rus, and then beat Susan Lamens and brought Ukraine the decisive third point in the confrontation.

In the current WTA rankings, Yastremskaya is ranked 105th. The first racket of the world remains Iga Szwiatek from Poland.
