The Ukrainian champion compared his fight with Tyson to the story of David and Goliath
WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world heavyweight champion Alexander Usik spoke about the fight with the WBC title holder Tyson Fury during a joint press conference between boxers in London.
“I want to tell you a story that is very similar to Tyson and me. About David and Goliath. When the Lord puts it in my hands, I will do my job. Nothing is impossible with the Lord.”
“When we first looked into each other’s eyes, Tyson was very energetic, funny and very motivated. The last time he was tired.”
“I don’t care what Tyson thinks about my fight with Dubois. There was a victory, they raised my hand, the judge recorded that the blow was below the belt. You can’t win cleanly. You try to win with dirty tricks. But this world is clean.”
The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Initially, the fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that the “Gypsy King” would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
