The second prestigious award for an Englishman in a month after the Kop Trophy from France Football
English midfielder Reala Jude Bellingham won a prize Golden Boy 2022.
The 20-year-old Englishman beat such status opponents as Jamal Musiala (Bayern), Rasmus Hoylund (Manchester United), Alejandro Balde (Barcelona), Levi Colville (Chelsea), as well as 16-year-old Lamin Yamal from Barcelona and many others. The winner was determined by the European Golden Boy international jury, consisting of 50 journalists from all over Europe.
In the past year, Bellingham became the vice-champion of Germany as part of Borussia Dortmund, was recognized as the best player of the season in the Bundesliga, and after moving to Real Madrid he has already twice received the award for the best football player of the month in La Liga – in August and October.
Let us remember that at the end of October Bellingham also won the Raymond Cop prize from France Football for the best young player of the year.
This season, Jude has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 14 matches for Blancos.
Let us remind you that the preliminary list of Golden Boy 2023 out of 100 players includes Ukrainians Alexander Saputin, Pavel Isenko and Maxim Dyachuk, as well as Venezuelan Kelsey from Shakhtar. But none of them made it into the top 25 finalists.
The Golden Boy award has been presented since 2003. At various times, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Paul Pogba and others became its owners. In 2022, the young Spaniard Gavi from Barcelona became the winner of the award from the Italian publication TuttoSport.
