General Producer of Alexander Tachine explained the TV channel’s decision to publish an open letter to the Russian Premier League (RPL) and the Russian Football Union (RFU).
– Today we published an open letter to colleagues in the RPL and RFU. Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the so-called “RPL Cup”, about which we, as the main media partner and main broadcaster, have found it necessary to express our position honestly and openly.
In our opinion, the new tournament can significantly reduce the attractiveness of the RPL and the Russian Cup. Both tournaments are growing dynamically and have an audience base. Creating a tournament that will duplicate the two already existing raises many questions – who will show, who will broadcast, what compositions the teams will play.
Our proposal is to reform the Russian Cup, to increase the number of matches for RPL clubs, so that the teams have more competitive training,” Taschin wrote on the Telegram channel.
