In a statement, Corinthians confirmed that an offer was presented to Caixa this morning in Brasília; see the value of the stadium’s debt
On the morning of this Friday, the 17th, the Corinthians made official a proposal to Caixa Econômica Federal to pay off the company’s debt Neo Química Arena. In a statement, the São Paulo club confirmed the offer to pay the amount related to financing the works at the Itaquera stadium.
The proposal was presented at a meeting in Brasília with representatives of alvinegro and the bank, and announced in a statement from the two entities.
“Representatives from Caixa and Corinthians met, and the Club presented a formal proposal to settle the outstanding balance of the debt under the financing contract signed for the construction of Arena Corinthians”says the note signed by Luiz Felipe Figueiredo, director of Finance and Investor Relations at Caixa.
“The proposal was received by Caixa and we will now wait to obtain the necessary documents for its formalization. We inform you that, as soon as this stage is overcome, more details will be released”, says the statement from the São Paulo club.
The renegotiation values are kept confidential. Corinthians and Caixa have been talking about an agreement for months, and the football club is advised by KPMG. The bank will evaluate Timão’s proposal.
In 2023, Corinthians has already transferred R$100 million to Caixa in interest only to the bank, which financed the construction of the Neo Química Arena, opened in 2014. In the total agreement, the debt exceeds R$600 million and must begin to be paid in 2025.
