The Icelandic winger has already scored twice this season from Malinovsky’s passes.
Genoa announced the extension of the contract with one of its leaders, an Icelander Albert Gudmundssonuntil 2027.
The 26-year-old winger has been playing for the Genoese club since January 2022, having transferred from the Dutch AZ for one and a half million euros. He missed Ukrainian coach Andrei Shevchenko in Genoa by just a couple of weeks. During his time with the Griffins, Albert played 64 matches, scored 22 goals and gave 6 assists.
In the 2023/24 season, Gudmundsson has seven goals (five in Serie A) and one assist. The Icelander scored two of these goals from passes from Ukrainian Ruslan Malinovsky – first in the championship match against Salernitana, and then in the Cup against Reggiana. Apart from the Icelander, Ruslan has not yet given assists to anyone in his new club.
Genoa, with 14 points after 12 rounds, is in 14th place in Serie A. In the Italian Cup, Alberto Gilardino’s team reached the 1/8 finals, successively defeating Modena and Reggiana.
Genoa will play their next match on Sunday, November 26, away against Frosinone.
