Premier League club loses 10 points in the table; understand!

The Premier League announced that the traditional English club lost 10 points in the current season’s league table; see reason and team situation

The morning of this Friday, 17th (Brasília time), was a shock for Premier League lovers, who saw the Everton be punished with the loss of 10 points in this season’s competition. The sanction was due to violation of profit and sustainability rules, and received a protest from the club through a statement on social media.

Both the harshness and severity of the sanction imposed by the commission are not a fair or reasonable reflection of the evidence presented. The club will also monitor with great interest deductions applied in any other cases“, stated the club through a note published on its official Instagram.

The Premier League’s ‘Financial Fair Play’ allows for a deficit of up to £105 million annually, and according to the league’s investigation, Everton exceeded it to £124.5 million. The investigation is in relation to the 2020/21 season, but the punishment will only apply to the current season, already updating the table with the lost points.

This is the third time in history that a punishment of this type has taken place in England’s top division. Previously, the Middlesbrough was the first, seeing the deduction of three points in 1996/97, while the Portsmouth he had 9 points less in the 2009/10 season.
