Wilder: Joshua asked for $50 million for the fight, but when we offered it to him, he didn’t take it

Deontay believes AJ is being held back from the fight by his entourage

Former world champion Deontay Wilder said that the former world champion Anthony Joshua refused the $50 million fee that the American team offered for the fight.

“He asked for $50 million and we gave him that money, but he didn’t take it. And the only way to ignore it is to make fun of it, to try to make a joke, to try to present it to the public as if it’s not true.”

“This is a damn cool moment. They received $50 million. This is why Joshua doesn’t speak in person very often, and when he does, he always gets it wrong and says things his team doesn’t like. They have to clean up for Anthony.”

“Joshua’s team is keeping him from fighting me, you know he’s a fighter himself. More than six years have passed waiting for our fight. Many times he wanted to fight, wanted to take the fight. But his handlers did not want this, because Joshua brings money to the company. And if he fails, so will the business.”

Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua will hold a joint boxing evening on December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Deontay will fight Joseph Parker, and AJ will fight Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin. The event is expected to bring closer the conclusion of a contract for the fight between the two former champions.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Wilder’s last opponent was also Helenius – the American won by knockout in the first round.
