Tsygankov: We have one last chance. We want to win and qualify for the European Championship

The match between Ukraine and Italy will be refereed by the Spanish team led by Jesus Gil Manzano

Winger of Girona and Ukraine national team Victor Tsygankov before the decisive qualifying match for the 2024 European Championship with Italy, he focused on the pressure from fans and the media on Squadra Azzurra.

“This is the last meeting in the group. We clearly understand that in order to go to the European Championships, we must do something important. And we will do everything to do this, for ourselves and for our country.”

“At a time when we are experiencing a military invasion of our country, participation in the Euro is too important. This is a great tournament and we want to play in it, our people have been suffering for a long time and we want to try to give the Ukrainians some happy moments.”

“Yes, two months ago there was a very difficult match. Italy played at home and at the San Siro, a huge stadium with 60 thousand fans, and we found ourselves in a difficult situation. This was a lesson for us, now we have one last chance and we want to win, we want to qualify for the European Championship.”

“There is more pressure on the Azzurra because they represent a great country, a nation that usually competes in such great tournaments. But we know very well how important qualification is for our nation and for our people, and we want to make our fans happy and proud.”

Sergei Rebrov’s team will play against Italy on November 20 in Leverkusen (Germany) at the BayArena stadium, starting at 20:45 local time (21:45 Kyiv time).

The Ukraine-Italy match will be refereed by the Spanish team led by Jesus Gil Manzano. The Ukrainian anthem before the match will be performed by Sergei Ivanchuk, who miraculously survived enemy shelling in 2022.

In the first head-to-head match of Group C, which took place in September, the Italians beat Ukraine (2:1). Davide Frattesi scored a brace for Squadra Azzurra, and Andrei Yarmolenko scored a goal for the blue-and-yellows.

In the standings, Italy and Ukraine share second and third places. Italy is ahead of the blue-yellows due to additional indicators. To qualify for Euro 2024, Sergei Rebrov’s team will only need a victory.
