George Weah lost the Liberian presidential election

The Milan legend led the country for six years

Legendary former forward George Weah and the current president Liberia lost the country’s presidential elections. Weah will leave his post after 6 years in power.

Weah has already recognized the victory of his opponent, 78-year-old Joseph Bokai, former vice president of Liberia (2006-2018). The difference between the candidates was 28 thousand votes (50.89% for Bokai versus 49.11% for Weah).

Weah is the 1995 Ballon d’Or winner. He took the position of the country’s leader in December 2017.

In 2005, the former striker already participated in the presidential race, but was defeated. Despite this, he did not stop political activities and soon became a senator.

Note that Weah is the first and only African to win the Ballon d’Or. Weah achieved his greatest sporting successes in Monaco (1988-92), PSG (1992-95) and Milan (1995-2000).
