The blue-yellows are preparing for the final qualifying match for Euro 2024
Midfielder Ukrainian national team Egor Nazarina spoke about the team’s preparation for the final match Euro 2024 qualification with Italy.
“Everyone is in a good mood, we are preparing for an important game. There was a recovery training session on Saturday, so everyone is at full strength and getting ready.”
“In the match between Italy and North Macedonia, it is not the result that is important, but how the team played. I think we will analyze and the coaching staff will show us their strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, we will prepare and, hopefully, we will be able to show ourselves and achieve a positive result for us.”
“We focus on our game. And for us, first of all, it is important to get a positive result and win. Therefore, the game of the Italians, one might say, did not decide anything for us.”
The Ukrainian national team arrived in Leverkusen on Saturday, where the match with Italy will take place. On Sunday, Sergei Rebrov’s team will hold a pre-game training session on the Bay Arena field, which will begin at 17:00 Kyiv time. The first 15 minutes will be open to media representatives. Half an hour before this, the head coach of the national team Sergei Rebrov and one of the blue-yellow players will meet with journalists in a press conference.
The Italian team is in second place in Group C with 13 points. Ukraine also has 13 points, but is inferior to Italy in additional indicators. To qualify for the Euro directly, Sergei Rebrov’s team needs to beat Squadra Azzurra with any score in a head-to-head match in the last round.
Ukraine will play against Italy on Monday, November 20, in Leverkusen (Germany) at the BayArena stadium. The meeting starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.
The Ukraine-Italy match will be refereed by the Spanish team led by Jesus Gil Manzano. The Ukrainian anthem before the match will be performed by Sergei Ivanchuk, who miraculously survived enemy shelling in 2022.
In the first head-to-head match of Group C, which took place in September, the Italians beat Ukraine (2:1). Davide Frattesi scored a brace for Squadra Azzurra, and Andrei Yarmolenko scored a goal for the blue-and-yellows.
