After the defeat to Vitória, coach Enderson Moreira could not resist and was dismissed from his position by Sport; team is far from access to Serie A
The coach Enderson Moreira was removed from office by Sport. This Sunday morning, the 19th, the club announced the decision one round before the end of Series B of the Brasileirão 2023. Last Saturday, Leão da Ilha was defeated by the champion Victory and became further away from the fight for access.
In a press conference after the match at Barradão, Enderson stated that his cycle at Sport should have ended sooner. He was hired a year ago by the club and ends his time with 67 games, 39 wins, 16 draws and 12 losses, with a success rate of 66.2%.

“Sport announces, by mutual agreement, the departure of coach Enderson Moreira. Assistants Luís Flores and Aílton Serafim and physical trainer Gerson Rocha also leave the Club. The red-black director thanks the professionals for their work and wishes them success in future projects,” reported Sport in an official statement.
Enderson won the Campeonato Pernambucano and was runner-up in the Copa do Nordeste, defeated by Ceará on penalties in the decision. In the Copa do Brasil, Sport was eliminated, on penalties, by São Paulo, the team that later confirmed the national title.
In the main dispute of the year, access to Series A, Leão had a great campaign in the first round to remain in the G-4 in most rounds, but had a drop in performance and lost positions in the second: only three victories in the last 15 games, in addition to seven draws and five defeats.
To continue dreaming of the 2024 Series A, Sport needs to beat Sampaio Corrêa and hope for a combination of results, that of Vila Nova, Novorizontino, Atlético-GO and Mirassol.
