Yuri Danchenko – about why the ex-Shakhtar goalkeeper ended up in Lisbon and not Inter
Yuri Danchenkogoalkeeper’s agent Benfica And Ukrainian national team Anatoly Trubinshared some details of his client’s transfer to the Lisbon club in the summer of 2023 amid interest from Milan Inter.
“As for the negotiations on Trubin, let’s just say that Benfica was more persistent and convincing, so Anatoly and I made this decision based on this.”
Also, in a conversation with Italian media, Danchenko diplomatically answered the question whether Trubin’s appearance in the Italian Championship in the future is realistic.
“The Italian Championship is one of the largest in the world. If you want to grow and achieve goals, win trophies, then you need to play in strong teams and championships: there are many strong teams in Italy, including Inter. We will do everything in our power.”
Kharkiv resident Yuri Danchenko is one of 13 licensed agents from Ukraine. He is represented by the PART of the GAME agency. Among the clients, in addition to Trubin, are Valery Bondar, Dmitry Kryskiv, Taras Kacharaba. Let us remind you that Trubin officially moved to Benfica on August 10, signing a contract until June 30, 2028. Ukrainian Clausula amounts to 100 million euros.
Trubin’s transfer cost Benfica 10 million euros. The miner can receive another 1 million euros in the form of bonuses. The Pitmen will also receive 40% of Benfica’s net income upon subsequent resale of the goalkeeper.
Inter was also interested in Trubin. It was reported that after Benfica’s active actions, the Nerazzurri stopped counting on the success of the Ukrainian’s transfer. Inter eventually signed Swiss goalkeeper Jan Sommer.
This season, the Ukrainian has played in 12 matches for Benfica in all tournaments. Anatoly kept a clean sheet in four matches, saving two penalties.
Benfica leads the Portuguese Championship standings, ahead of Sporting in additional indicators. In the next round, Trubin’s team will play Moreirense on December 3.
