De Laurentiis: Italy robbed Ukraine yesterday. There was clearly a penalty

The president Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis supported Ukrainian national team based on her draw result in the last round of selection for Euro 2024 and an unassigned penalty in stoppage time of the decisive match against Italian national team.

“Nobody wants to see a team robbed the way Ukraine was robbed by Italy last night. They clearly should have gotten a penalty.”

“Ukraine was motivated by the war, they had a dream, but it did not come true. Again, if everything was easy, this wouldn’t be a dream.”

Let us remind you that the Ukrainian national team failed to beat Italy in the final match of the group stage of Euro 2024 qualification. The Ukrainians ended the nominally home match, which took place in Leverkusen, in a draw – 0:0.

One of the key moments of the match happened during the referee’s stoppage time: Brian Cristante knocked down Mikhail Mudryk in his own penalty area, but neither the chief referee nor the VAR saw any violation in this episode on the part of the Italian.

The draw did not allow the Ukrainian team to directly qualify for the final part of Euro 2024; the Italy team received a ticket, beating the blue-yellows due to personal meetings.

Sergei Rebrov’s team will now compete for access to Euro 2024 in the Nations League playoffs. The blue-and-yellows will be waiting for the “final four” of division A or division B – this will be decided by a draw.

If they get into the playoffs of Division B, the Ukrainian team’s opponents will be Bosnia and Herzegovina and Israel, as well as Finland or Iceland. If we get into the playoffs of Division A, our team will have to compete first with Wales, and then with someone from the Poland-Estonia pair.
