Athletistic/Football. Former FIFA referees Igor Egorov and Stanislav Sukhina expressed their comments on the episode of the Euro 2024 qualifying match between Ukraine and Italy, in which no penalties were awarded against the Italians at the end of the match.

Igor Egorov told RBC Sport magazine that the moment was a mistake on the part of the refereeing team, suggesting that it could have happened due to the lack of the necessary angle of the VAR camera. While Stanislav Sukhina believes that the referee’s decision was correct, saying that in this episode there was no contact between the players.

Recall that in the last minutes of the match, the striker of the Ukrainian national team Mikhail Mudrik fell in the Italian penalty area after a collision with Brian Cristante, but the referees did not react at that moment.

The match ended in a draw 0:0, thanks to additional indicators Italy took second place in the group and qualified for the final part of the tournament.
