The Blue-Yellows hold the lead in Group F
Defender Ukrainian youth team Konstantin Vivcharenko commented on the minimal victory over Azerbaijan (1:0) in the qualification for Euro 2025 (U-21).
“We, the full-backs, were asked to make flank passes. Kucheryavyi had a chance that he didn’t capitalize on? I told him he didn’t score. I want to give an assist. I’m very happy that I played the whole match, I haven’t played for a long time. Thanks to the coaching staff for their trust and, of course, I’m very happy about the victory. Sitting on the bench is more difficult than playing. Different emotions, so it’s better to play.”
“There is someone to evaluate my game, there is a coaching staff. I did everything possible that the coaching staff asked. Melgosa is a very cool coach, we see it in the results, we are in first place. We will continue to fulfill his demands and continue to win. There is still something to work on, something to improve, so I think with each training camp we will improve our game.”
“We don’t have fans now, so playing for the club and the national team is different emotions. Because you represent your country, your fans. Thank you to the fans for coming to support us during this time.”
The blue-and-yellows hold the lead in Group F, three points ahead of England. Let us note that Unai Melgosa’s team achieved five victories in five rounds.
Ukraine U-21 will play the next match in the spring of 2024. On March 26, Melgosa’s team will compete with Azerbaijan on the road.
