tmwSamp, Radrizzani: “In England they control who invests in football. Let’s do it here too”

Andrea Radrizzaniinvestor who, together with Matteo Manfredi took over Sampdoriaspoke on the sidelines of the DLA Piper Sport sports forum “Football’s New Challenge: Combining Sporting and Financial Performance” at San Siro in front of media representatives, including TMV: “I was very happy to help Sampdoria and I still do so together with Matteo Manfredi. The goal is clear: return Sampdoria to Serie A as quickly as possible. This has always been the goal, from day one. This is a difficult season, this is a club that is being reborn from the ruins they left us. It takes time”.

What are your obligations to Sampdoria today?

“My responsibility is to help Manfredi bring this mission to completion. I’m happy to do that, when he needs me I’ll be there for him.”

Leeds experience?

“It ended with some bitterness, but it was very important for my professional development. I’ve done a lot of good things, but also a lot of mistakes, I hope to learn from them.”

How did you perceive the Italian system when you stepped in to help Sampdoria?

“I’m not used to this kind of media coverage, in England you don’t follow every word and every action of a football team. You only think about the matches and live a much more relaxed life. In England there is an important aspect “namely the assessment of the investor before transferring control of a football team. This is something that should also be included in Italy, institutions should select and evaluate entrepreneurs who invest in Italian football.”

Would you recommend an operation similar to the one with Sampdoria to another Italian investor?

“Of course, what I did at Leeds, at Sampdoria, started just a few months ago.”

Before Sampdoria there was talk about his interest in Inter

“I used to keep an eye on the possible purchase of another club through other means.”
