For the first time in its history
Match for Ukrainian Super Cup-2022 will not be held.
It is reported that this decision was justified by the lack of proper completion of the last season in the UPL and the Cup of Ukraine due to the military invasion of Ukraine by the army of the Russian Federation.
Also, one of the reasons for refusing to hold a match for the country’s Super Cup is the inability to play a duel in the city of Odessa, traditional for this football event.
The first match for the Ukrainian Super Cup was held in 2004 and has not been canceled since then. The current owner of the trophy is Shakhtar.
It should be noted that the Pitmen are on par with Dynamo Kyiv in terms of victories in the Super Cup of Ukraine. Both clubs have 9 titles each.
Recall that the new season of the Ukrainian Premier League may take place on dates close to the Independence Day of Ukraine, as reported by the head of the UAF Andriy Pavelko.
In the new season in the Premier League should play 16 teams. Championship matches will be held in two rounds (30 rounds). Officially, the format and dates of the next championship draw have not been approved.
The matches of the autumn part of the UPL must be held in Ukraine, with the exception of matches between teams that participate in European competitions. They were allowed to play matches with each other outside of Ukraine for the period of performances in the group stage of European tournaments.
Last football season in Ukraine ended ahead of schedule due to a full-scale Russian invasion of the country. Ukraine has been resisting the military aggression of the Russian Federation for the 133rd day.
