Javier has led the Spanish professional football league since 2013
President of the Spanish La Liga Javier Tebas officially resigned from his post.
He did this in light of the imminent expiration of his term of office. At the same time, the 61-year-old functionary intends to run for a new term.
“A few minutes ago, I resigned as President of the Lee League pending the completion of my mandate, which expires on December 23. A new electoral process will open in which I will represent myself, so I will ask for the approval and trust of the clubs to solve the problems facing us,” Tebas said.
The head of La Liga had already pulled off a similar trick four years earlier. Then he managed to be re-elected to a new four-year term. In total, Javier has been leading the Spanish professional football league since 2013.
Let us remind you that recently Florentino Perez and Joan Laporta, the presidents of Real Madrid and Barcelona, left their posts on the board of directors of the RFEF – the Royal Spanish Football Federation. They justified this step by their reluctance to interfere in the electoral process, which will take place in the RFEF in the first quarter of 2024.
