The lawsuit against Ronaldo was filed by model Catherine Mayorga in 2018, who accused the athlete of rape that allegedly took place in June 2009 and claimed she received $375,000 from Ronaldo for his silence.

However, Ronaldo denied rape and said sexual contact with Mayorga was consensual. In June 2020, the lawsuit was dismissed and Mayorga’s attempts to have the lawsuit reopened also failed.
