The Real Madrid legend’s coaching experience is limited to Castilla

46-year-old Raul, a Real Madrid legend as a player (1994-2010, 550 appearances, 228 goals), has been coaching Real Madrid Castilla since 2019, playing in the RFEF First Division (the third tier in the Spanish league system). In 2021, the Spaniard was considered as a contender for the post of head coach of Madrid after Zinedine Zidane.
Raul is no stranger to German football. At the end of his playing career, he played for Schalke for two years (2010 – 2012).
Union are currently 17th in the Bundesliga, one point ahead of last-place Cologne. On December 2, the capital club will play away against Bayern.
