Honored coach of Russia Valery Nepomnyashchiy appointed “Sochi” a contender for relegation from the MIR Russian Premier League (RPL) at the end of the 2023/24 season.
On Saturday, Sochi lost to Zenit (0:3) in the match of the 16th day of the WORLD RPL. The club occupies 16th place in the ranking with 10 points.
— Unfortunately, Sochi is now a real contender for relegation, it’s very sad. The team had some problems early in the season, but I don’t think anyone expected it to go this far. 10 points and last place after 16 rounds is not their level at all. Of course, this is very frustrating – just recently Sochi won silver medals at the Russian Championship and now may be relegated to the First League. I hope that doesn’t happen, but everything is going in that direction,” quotes Nepomniachtchi from RB Sport.
