Italy national team beat Australia in the final match Davis Cup 2023.
In the first match of the confrontation, Matteo Arnaldi defeated Alexei Popyrin in three sets – 7:5, 2:6, 6:4. The second and victorious point for Italy was brought by the team leader, the fourth racket of the world, Jannik Sinner, who beat Alex De Minaur – 6:3, 6:0.
Italy won the Davis Cup for the second time. The Italians first won the tournament 47 years ago – in 1976. In total, this was the eighth final in history for Italy.
Australia lost the Davis Cup final for the second year in a row. In 2022, Australian tennis players lost to Canada (0:2) in the decisive match.
