Malinovsky: My goal is important, but if we had earned a point, it would have been better

The Ukrainian scored his debut goal for the Griffins

Ukrainian midfielder Genoa Ruslan Malinovsky commented on the outcome of the meeting with Frosinone (1:2) in the 13th round of Serie A. The midfielder emphasized that the support of team coach Alberto Gilardino helps him a lot.

“We had a chance to win the match, but then one episode changed everything. We played well, created a lot of chances and pressed well, but that’s football.”

“We need to analyze the mistakes we made and move forward. We are playing a lot of matches now, there are no national teams here, and it is important that everyone is okay. There is a team, it is strong, and that is why we must move forward, including for the sake of the fans.”

“We were hoping we could do better. It’s a shame because everyone gave it their all. My goal? Important, but if we got a point it would be better. There’s nothing more to say.”

“Gilardino helps me a lot, tells me what to do on the field. I always want to play better and do everything possible for this. This loss should be a boost for us because we should be angry after this match.”

In total, this season Malinovsky played 12 matches for Genoa in all competitions, in which he scored one goal and gave two assists. The goal against Frosinone was the Ukrainian’s debut this season.

The Griffins occupy 15th position in Serie A. On December 2, Gilardino’s team will play away against Empoli.
