Surkis: Shovkovsky does his job well. He must progress with the team

The Kiev team took six points in two matches

The president Dynamo Igor Surkis commented on the performances and results of the Kyiv club under the leadership Alexander Shovkovsky. Now the legendary goalkeeper of the white and blue acts as head coach at Dynamo.

“They have to play like this every game. Dedication must come first. Don’t forget that we have a lot of injured players: Shaparenko, Yarmolenko, Popov and Vanat have injuries. This all affects the game. And Shovkovsky does his job well, he’s great. He must progress with the team, which is what he is doing. His game is structured very well. We won, but we have to catch up with what we lost.”

“Why do we need to remember what happened? That Mircea was in the hospital and Shovkovskiy was acting as head coach? This is already the past. Now he also serves as head coach. We will watch how the team plays, progresses and then we will decide something.”

“This is interesting. But this is the coach’s initiative. This is how he sees football, and he must do what will bring results. He performs his duties very well. This is an intelligent person and he still has everything ahead of him. In the match with Krivbass and Rukh, Alexander Shovkovsky did an excellent job.”

On November 4, 48-year-old Shovkovskiy was appointed acting head coach of Dynamo after the resignation of Mircea Lucescu. His coaching staff will include Emil Karas, Oleg Gusev and Mikhail Mikhailov.

Note that Shovkovsky already has similar experience in the Kiev club. He headed Dynamo as “acting” from April to June 2023, while Lucescu underwent surgery and recovered from it. Then, under the leadership of Alexander, the Kiev team played eight matches, winning six of them.

The white-blues are in sixth place in the championship. In the next round, Dynamo will play against Minaj on December 3.
