Shakhtar will play the match of the fifth round of the Champions League on November 28 in Hamburg
Attack Shakhtar Daniil Sikan spoke about the team’s preparation for the match with Antwerp in the fifth round Champions League.
“For us, the most important thing is not a large number of goals, but the result, namely victory. Tomorrow we are counting exclusively on a positive outcome for Shakhtar.”
“The match with Polesye did not affect the team, we understand that there are many matches ahead in the championship in which you can either lose a lot of points or go the distance without any losses. Everything is in our hands, we just need to win. I want to forget the game with Polesie, now all my thoughts are about the next match.”
“Antwerp is a very good team that demonstrates combinational football, plays forward and constantly looks for free zones, likes to attack through the middle. The squad has very good players in both attack and defense. But like any club, Antwerp also has its weaknesses. We will try to make the most of the remaining time to prepare both our team and our attack for tomorrow’s game. I hope we will approach the match with the best possible mood, because we understand that we only need a victory.”
“I really want to play with the fans at home, in Ukraine, but for now it’s impossible. I thank the fans who come to our matches in Hamburg, support us and give us a second home in this city.”
Earlier, the Miners arrived in Hamburg, where Shakhtar’s “home” match with Antwerp will take place. The squad included midfielder Artem Bondarenko, who did not play in November due to injury, and defender Pedrinho. Defenders Dmitry Chigrinsky and Efim Konoplya, midfielder Egor Nazarina and winger Maryan Shved did not travel with the team.
The Shakhtar – Antwerp match will take place on Tuesday, November 28. The meeting starts at 19:45. Let us remind you that in the 2nd round match the Miners beat the Belgian team away – 3:2.
Shakhtar are third in Group H of the Champions League with 6 points. Antwerp is at the bottom of the standings with no points.
