Midweek this week will be marked in Russian football by the start of the 1/4 finals of the National Cup. Additionally, only teams from the RPL Path tournament will enter combat. And in Rostov, Lokomotiv completely lost (1:2), but nevertheless finished first in the group.
But in the Russian Premier League, Baltika, frankly, disappoints its fans. In 16 rounds, the Kaliningraders won only 3 victories. The last victory was won a month and a half ago against Orenburg at home (1:0). Last weekend, Sergei Ignashevich’s team lost at home to Spartak Moscow (0:2) and is currently in the penultimate 15th place in the standings.
Lokomotiv are in the middle of the table, in 8th place, but have won just once in their last six matches. The “Railways” team did not win away for more than two months, while it was stronger than “Zenith” in St. Petersburg (2:1).
As for the personal meetings between “Baltika” and “Lokomotiv”, there were only 10 of them. Let’s note right away that the Kaliningraders never beat the “railway workers” – this is if we count the main time of the matches . The opponents played three times within the framework of the Russian Cup. The Muscovites have two victories, one meeting ended in a draw. But it was in this match, which ended in a draw in regulation time (1:1), that Baltika celebrated the victory on penalties (4:1). It was September 25, 2019 during the 1/16 finals.
