Hero of the 17th round of the Second League Vadim Sidun: The Carpathians are all I need

Sport Arena, together with the PFL, is naming the hero of the next round in the Second League. In the 17th round this is Karpaty-2 forward Vadim Sidun

At the end of the autumn part of the season in the Second League, the leader changed every round. So Chaika, having captured first place, was unable to defend it. And the main sensation is that one of the youngest teams in the championship, Karpaty-2, took the leadership from the Borshchagov team. And the hero of the match was the Lion Cubs’ striker Sidun, who scored himself and co-authored two more goals. Sport Arena and the PFL did not ignore such a striking performance.

The hero of the seventeenth round in the Second League, Vadim Sidun, in an exclusive interview with Sport Arena, shared his impressions of the bright victory of Karpaty-2 over Chaika, and also noted the ambitious goals that he sets for himself.

— How important is it for you to be recognized as the best player of the tour?

– Of course, for me, as a young football player, such recognition is pleasant. Winning an honorary nomination is an additional incentive for further achievements.

— Until the 17th round, your team could not win since September – six matches in a row. What, in your opinion, are the main reasons for such a long streak without victories?

– It’s difficult for me to explain the reasons for these failures. Probably, such instability was influenced by the lack of experience. We have a young team that is just taking its first steps in professional football. Let’s look at all our mistakes during the off-season. For some reason, we were better at playing away. We will try to play better in home matches in the spring.

– Before the game with Chaika, you were not favorites. This probably helped you, because you played relaxed?

– We always try to play aggressively, from a position of strength. Not all matches allow us to show our best qualities, but we strive to adhere to the structure of the game.

– Fetko, who is your team’s main scorer, did not participate in this match. What changes have the coaching staff made in tactics given this loss?

– Of course, this is a significant loss for us, but there are no irreplaceable players in football. It is worth noting Vitaly Katrich, who played great in a new position for himself. It’s great that our team has such versatile players.

— The hosts started the game actively, but you withstood the starting pressure with dignity. Did you understand that the opponent would play this way?

– It is worth noting the weather conditions, due to which it was not entirely possible to play the football we are accustomed to. The quality of the lawn was not the best, but we managed to adapt and gradually took over the initiative. A very important victory for us, which once again proved that Karpaty-2 can play against the favorites from a position of strength.

– In the 25th minute after a free kick, you were the first to finish and opened the scoring. Given the nature of the match, was this one of the key episodes?

– I can’t say that this episode decided the fate of the match, but the goal gave us confidence in our own abilities. After that we could play by quickly going on the attack.

– At the beginning of the second half, after your pass, Abramchuk realized a one-on-one situation. A fake combination?

— I wouldn’t single out my pass, but I’ll mention my partner who played calmly. We try to play variedly and use free zones. It is this combination that I would not call feigned.

– In injury time, after another assist from you, Skorokhod scored. Are quick attacks one of the main trump cards of Carpathians-2?

– Indeed, we always try to take advantage of our speed data. It’s not easy for the opposing defenders to play against our team, because we constantly change positions and play differently.

– Thanks to the victory over Chaika, your team moved into ninth place with 20 points. Considering the young squad, is this a decent result or would you like more?

– We could have scored more points. It was not possible to reveal its potential. We have an ambitious team that will try to win every match this spring. I believe that Karpatam-2 is capable of defeating any opponent in the Second League.

– How difficult was it to adapt to adult football? How long did it take?

– For two years I played at the regional championship level. This experience helped me adapt to professional football faster. It was not easy, but with every match I felt progress. From the moment of his debut, what was most remembered among professionals was his effective actions.

– Do you remember your first steps in football? Who was your first coach?

– I started playing football at FC Kovel, where my first coach was Viktor Vladimirovich Romanchuk. Thanks to my first coach for the invaluable knowledge that still helps me now.

– Under the guidance of which specialists did you study at the academy?

– My coaches were: Viktor Aleksandrovich Skvira, Vasily Aleksandrovich Polyanovsky and Vladimir Nestorovich Vilchinsky. These are very qualified specialists who know how to unlock the potential of young people. I thank them for their useful knowledge and help.

– Does the presence of experienced players on the team help? It must be a pleasure to train with stars like Kozhanov?

– Of course, experienced players play a significant role in our young team, because you can learn a lot from them. Kozhanov helps us, his advice is useful for us.

– Perhaps you had offers from other clubs? Don’t you see yourself anywhere other than the Carpathians?

– Now I don’t even think about other clubs. The Carpathians are all I need. I will try to prove myself as much as possible in my home club. I hope that I can benefit the Carpathians.

— Is playing for the base of the Carpathians your main goal? Do you see the strength in yourself for this, because the competition is insane?

– At the moment this is the main task for me. I will do everything to prove myself in the first team of the Carpathians. I will try to gain a foothold in the Carpathians. I believe that I have everything for this. I will work even harder to achieve my goal.
