Rossoneri was not entirely convinced by his profile
Former coach of the national team of Ukraine and Genoa Andrey Shevchenko proposed Milan as the new interim mentor.
Yesterday the Rossoneri lost to Borussia D (1:3) in the 5th round of the Champions League and with five points in their assets they risk being left out of the Euro-spring, having missed Borussia Dortmund, PSG and Newcastle in the playoffs of the Champions League and Europa League.
In Serie A, Milan have only won once in the last five rounds. At the same time, the Rossoneri lost to Juventus (0:1) and Udinese (0:1), and also tied with Napoli (2:2) and Lecce (2:2).
Thus, the position of the current team coach Stefano Pioli does not look solid. His contract with Milan runs until the summer of 2025.
Shevchenko’s services were offered to the Milan leadership through intermediaries. A short-term offer is reported until the end of the current season. However, the management of the Italian giant is not completely convinced of the appropriateness of this appointment and Shevchenko’s profile as a coach.
Throughout his football career, Shevchenko scored 175 goals in 322 matches for Milan, with whom he won the Champions Cup (2003), the Italian Championship and the Ballon d’Or (2004).
In his coaching career, Shevchenko worked with the Ukrainian national team for five years. The blue-and-yellows, under his leadership, reached the quarterfinals of the 2020 European Championship.
From November 2021 to January 2022, Shevchenko led Genoa. Under his leadership, the Rossoblu won only one victory in 11 matches (over Salernitana in the Italian Cup – 1:0).
Milan is in third place in Serie A. On December 2, Pioli’s team will play against Frosinone.
