Lucescu turned down Dynamo Bucharest and is waiting for an offer from the Romanian national team – media

Contrary to recent statements, the 78-year-old mentor does not yet intend to retire

According to Turkish media reports, the ex-coach of Donetsk Shakhtar and Kyiv Dynamo Mircea Lucescu rejected the offer from Dynamo from native Bucharest.

Let us remind you that it was previously reported that the Romanian grandee was in negotiations with the 78-year-old mentor.

Referring to the Romanian press, the source reports that the experienced specialist is waiting for an offer from the national Romanian national team, with whom I would like to work before the end of my career. Rumors also connect Mircea with the Istanbul Besiktas.

Lucescu’s coaching career has lasted since 1979. His track record includes the already mentioned Romanian national team (1981 – 1986), Dynamo Bucharest (1985 – 1990) and Besiktas (2002 – 2004).

The Romanian coach also worked with a number of Italian clubs, Russian Zenit and the Turkish national team.

Lucescu devoted most of his years to Shakhtar Donetsk (2004 – 2016), with whom he won 22 trophies, including the UEFA Cup (2009). From 2020 to November 2023, Mircea worked as the head coach of Dynamo Kyiv.
