UEFA has published a list of nominees for the title Player of the week V Champions League.
Among the players who most distinguished themselves in the first round were: Manchester City midfielder Phil Fodenhis colleague from Benfica Joao Mariowinger of Galatasaray Hakim Ziyechas well as Lazio forward Ciro Immobile.
Foden became the main hero of the Citizens’ home comeback against RB Leipzig (3:2) – he had a goal and two assists.
33-year-old Immobile, coming on as a substitute, managed to score a double at the end of the meeting against Celtic (2:0), which simultaneously brought Lazio into the Champions League playoffs and buried the European Cup prospects of the Scottish giants.
30-year-old Ziyech scored twice from free kicks against Manchester United, helping Galatasaray escape defeat (3:3) in a home match against the Red Devils. The ex-Chelsea winger also contributed an assist to Kerem Akturkoglu.
30-year-old Joao Mario had enough time to score a hat-trick against Inter. True, in the second half of the meeting the guests pulled back three goals and almost snatched victory (3:3).
