Former CSKA player Gordyushenko: ‘I have no doubt about Dzagoev’s success in European football’

Former CSKA Moscow footballer Astemir Gordyushenko told that his former tag team partner Alan Dzagoev would have succeeded at the European Championship, but injuries affected his career.

Dzagoev announced his retirement in November, most of which he spent at CSKA.

— Can we say that Dzagoev was self-realized? Or have the injuries had a big impact on him?

“Her career has been successful, but yes, injuries have affected her greatly. Dzagoev could try his hand at European football. I have no doubt that he would have succeeded. I consider him a legend of Russian football. When Alan moved to CSKA and I started playing football, I started following him. I really loved him. He was my favorite footballer, my idol. And when I came to CSKA and got to know Alan as a person, I loved him even more. He is a very honest person and a great professional. Unfortunately, his injuries crippled him a bit,” Gordyushenko told .

Dzagoev, as part of CSKA, became a three-time Russian champion, each winning the country’s Cup and Super Cup four times. The footballer played 59 matches for the Russian national team and scored nine goals. The 33-year-old midfielder also played for Krylia Sovetov-SOK, Kazan Rubin and Greek side Lamia.
