The Government of Ukraine will instruct the Ministry of Youth and Sports to take measures to allow spectators to attend sporting competitions

The Ministry will develop the issue in cooperation with other authorities, taking into account the norms and security conditions in force during martial law

Today, December 1, the government Ukraine will instruct Ministry of Youth and Sports together with other authorities, take measures to allow spectators to attend sports competitions, taking into account the rules in force during martial law.

There is currently a ban on the admission of spectators to any sporting competitions in our country.

Let us recall that in November, the President of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine (FBU) Mikhail Brodsky addressed an open letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, in which he asked for assistance in returning spectators to the stands.

Then the functionary gave examples of cinemas, theaters and concert halls, which the public in Ukraine has the opportunity to visit, taking into account the necessary safety requirements.

In the mentioned letter, Brodsky asked Shmygal “to give instructions to the Ministry of Youth and Sports on a positive solution to the issue of admitting spectators to all-Ukrainian sports competitions, subject to the observance of safety measures during their holding and the admission of spectators in a number depending on the possibilities of sheltering sports facilities, but not more than 200 spectators.”

Back in February 2023, the Ukrainian Hockey Federation made a similar request to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

In early November, the Verkhovna Rada voted for the resignation of Vadim Gutzeit from the post of Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. Later, Matvey Bedny was appointed acting minister.
