Monaco midfielder Alexander Golovin spoke about his form in the current French Championship season.
The 27-year-old Russian has 12 matches this season, 5 goals and 2 assists. Golovin was named best player of the month in Monaco for the third time in a row.
— I am in excellent physical shape, even though I was in good shape last season. I’m working more on and off the field, and training has also become more difficult. I feel like I have to do more than before, especially to help our young players and give them confidence.
As for my shape, it’s easy for me to explain. When the team plays well, it makes sense that I play my best. We have played a lot of good games this season and we are playing with confidence in attack. This is one of the reasons why my goals and assists stats are good.
I have been working hard for the past year and a half to reduce and prevent muscle damage that occurred in the past. I always try to stay in shape to perform well on the field.
I’ve been playing here for a long time. My first two years were difficult because I had to adapt to a new country, a new championship. But since then, I have had the opportunity to show my qualities. And today I’m going through a good period, there’s a great team here, I would even say a family! So this is the perfect time to show your best side,” Golovin said, as quoted by the Monaco press service.
“Monaco” takes 3rd place in the French Championship rankings with 24 points in 13 rounds.
