Athletistic/Football. Legendary Russian striker Alexander Kerjakov regretted not being included in the Russian national team’s candidacy for the European Championship in 2008. At this tournament, the Russians reached the semi-finals and became medalists of bronze at the continental championship.
“I learned on television that I would not go to Euro 2008. Only after that Hiddink’s assistant Alexander Borodyuk called me… I would like one day Gus explains everything to me. Let it not be done in front of the cameras, just so he can tell me: “I didn’t take you because you were weak at that time.” Or: “I didn’t want to spoil the mood in the team.” Or he cited other reasons. “Because that’s what I ended up doing, I don’t know why they didn’t take me to national team at that time,” Kerzhakov said in a video on the TIME YouTube channel.
Alexander Kerzhakov is the record goal scorer in the Russian national team. In 91 matches in the national team jersey, he managed to score 30 times.
Kerzhakov recently left Subotica to leave his post as head coach of Spartak. Before the Serbian team, Alexander worked in the Cypriot team Karmiotissa, Paris Nizhny Novgorod, Tomsk Tomi, as well as in the Russian youth team.
