Goals from Calhanoglu and Barella brought success to Inzaghi’s team
In the central match of the 14th round of the Italian Serie A Napoli lost crushingly at home Inter – 0:2.
At first, the Neapolitan team dominated the confrontation between the reigning champion and the current leader. But the hosts did not take advantage of their chances, and the guests took the lead after a high-quality long-range strike by Hakan Calhanoglu.
In the second half, Simone Inzaghi’s team managed to double their lead in a counterattack – Nicolo Barella skillfully dealt with the defender and goalkeeper after a pass from Lautaro Martinez. At the end of the match, Marcus Thuram finished off the hosts.
With three points, Inter returned to first place in Serie A. The Nerazzurri are two points ahead of Juventus. Napoli dropped to fifth place, behind Roma on goal difference.
On December 8, Walter Mazzarri’s team will play away against Juventus. Inter will host Udinese the next day.
