The Sheffield United board have not forgiven Paul Heckingbottom for the devastating defeat to Burnley.

The English Premier League has seen its first coaching resignation in the 2023/24 season. The main outsiders of the championship, Sheffield United, said goodbye to his mentor.

The Blades press service reported that the club is ending its partnership with Paul Heckingbottom, who has worked at the club since November 2021. And it is under his leadership that Sheffield returns to the Premier League.

The decision to fire the 46-year-old specialist was made after a devastating 0:5 defeat to Burnley in the 14th round of the championship.

Sheffield United management soon found a new head coach. The club announced Chris Wilder’s appointment almost immediately to this post. The contract with the 56-year-old specialist will run until the summer of 2025.

Wilder previously managed the Blades from 2016-2021 and also led the team to the top flight. We remind you that Sheffield United is currently at the bottom of the Premier League standings, having only picked up five points from 14 games played.

We remind you that earlier it became known that Mircea Lucescu could lead a club from France.
